After defeating the Vancouver Canucks 7-4 on Friday night, The Chicago Blackhawks are one win away from a return trip to the Western Conference finals.

Behind captain Jonathan Toews and his hat trick, the Blackhawks kept their composure while the Canucks lost theirs. The Blackhawks took advantage of the overly aggressive Canucks to score four power-play goals and take a commanding 3-1 advantage in the best-of-seven series.

Every time the Canucks displayed a lack of discipline, the Blackhawks made them pay with its lethal power play. Chicago is 7 for 24 on the power play in the series, and is converting at 34.6 percent in the playoffs. The Canucks’ penalty-killing is last in the playoffs at 64.3 percent.

“We worked hard for those chances, so you’ve got to go out there and make it worthwhile on the power play,” Toews said. It was one of those nights when you get some chances and you throw it on net and it happens to go in. You work hard (and) you don't always expect to get lucky like that. We worked hard as a team to draw some of those penalties."

Toews became the first player in Blackhawks history with three power-play goals in a playoff game, and tied a franchise record with five points in a postseason game that included assists on Brent Seabrook and Patrick Sharp goals. The Blackhawks captain equaled the efforts of Stan Mikita on April 4, 1973 and Steve Larmer on April 30, 1990, both being against the St. Louis Blues.

Sharp added three assists and Tomas Kopecky scored and Dave Bolland added an empty netter while Blackhawks goaltender Antti Niemi once again got the better of Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo in the net.

Niemi made 26 saves while Luongo allowed six goals on 33 shots.

The Hawks are 13-0 all-time when winning three of the first four games in a Stanley Cup playoff series, and they can close this one out if they beat the Canucks in Game 5 at the United Center in Chicago on Sunday night.
