Stanley Cup Playoffs 1st Round Review
Written by Christopher Corazon, Tuesday April 27 2010
The lower seeds have done very well in the Eastern Conference, while the Western Conference has pretty much gone as expected. Two series will be decided in an exciting winner-take-all seventh game.
In the East, Boston, a sixth seed, and Philadelphia, a seventh seed, have both already advanced. They will wait for the outcome of the Montreal vs. Washington series. That series will be decided in a seventh game on Wednesday. If Montreal wins, the Bruins face the Flyers in round 2. If Washington wins, the Flyers will play the Capitals, while the Bruins will take on the Penguins. Pittsburgh continued their recent success in the Stanley Cup playoffs with an opening round win over the Ottawa Senators. The series featured the Pens vs. the Sens. The Penguins are the defending champions.
Meanwhile, in the West, the top seeds have prevailed. 2nd seed Chicago will take on 3rd seed Vancouver in the next round. Also, San Jose will take on the winner of tonight's seventh game between Phoenix and Detroit. The Red Wings won it all two years ago, and lost in the finals last year to the Penguins.
