Wall And Turner Declare For The Draft
Written by Christopher Corazon, Thursday April 08 2010
Kentucky freshman John Wall announced that he will leave school for the NBA draft. Four other wildcats are also leaving early, including All-American freshman DeMarcus Cousins. It leaves coach John Calipari in a rebuilding position again, just as he was when he came to Kentucky last season. Calipari brought in Wall, Cousins, and a talented recruiting class knowing there was a chance that there would be an exodus after one season. The payoff was that Kentucky spent part of the season at the top of the NCAA poll, earned a #1 seed in the tournament, and lost to West Virginia in the regional final.
At Ohio State, junior Evan Turner also declared that he is entering the NBA draft. Turner won the AP Player of the Year and probably felt that he accomplished as much as he could with the Buckeyes. Ohio State had the second-most wins in school history (29), a share of the Big Ten title in the regular season, won the tournament and earned a #2 seed in the NCAA tournament before losing to Tennessee in the Sweet 16.
