What is this world coming to when a televised poker tournament is robbed by six armed men at gunpoint?

The European Poker Tour event in Berlin, Germany were victims this afternoon as six men armed with machine guns reportedly strolled into the ballroom of the Grand Hyatt, where poker players were involved in a tournament for a large amount of cash.

According to reports, the gunmen allegedly made off with one million Euros which is about $1.3 million in American dollars. Quite a haul!

And because the tournament was being broadcast on LIVE television, there was a TV crew there and you know that their instincts kept those cameras rolling throughout the whole robbery.

Here is a clip of the robbery:

PokerStars, the tournaments tour promoter, released a statement confirming the robbery and asking for the public's help in finding the robbers, who remain at large.

You have to wonder if the robbers knew they were being filmed on live television during this whole fiasco. But then again, when you know there is that much cash and limited security to protect it, it probably does not matter either way.

Maybe going forward they should play with Monopoly money and just pay the winner with a check. I’m sure they would be OK with that.
