Crosby's goal trumps USA in OT winning Olympic Gold, 3-2; Miller named MVP

Expected to win gold in the 2010 Olympics, Canada did not disappoint while disrupting the flow of Team USA’s momentum, winning in overtime, 3-2 with a goal from Nova Scotia’s Sidney Crosby.
USA’s goaltender Ryan Miller was named MVP of the gold medal game.
Jonathan Toews scored the much-anticipated first goal, his first goal in the tournament. .
Excitement over the match-up has spawned enormous crowds and viewers. Leading up to the gold medal game, forward Jonathan Toews expressed “It doesn’t matter who we play in the gold-medal game. We want it so bad,” echoing the sentiments of his home country.
Corey Perry scored in the second period to the dismay of the American players.
Top scorer Brian Rafalski’s quick thinking set up a play led by Duncan Keith for Ryan Kesler scoring to get Team USA on the board tightening Canada’s lead, 2-1.
In the third period, with under a minute to go in the game, Zach Parise scored to tie the game, 2-2 sending the two teams into overtime.
Sidney Crosby scored the overtime goal from a setup by Jarome Iginla.
Goaltender Roberto Luongo hasn’t lost a game in General Motors Place since January 11, during the regular NHL season where he plays for the Vancouver Canucks. Luongo saved 34 of 36 shots.
USA’s Ryan Miller and MVP, saved 36 of 39 shots on goal. Miller had confidence entering the game expressing, “We have the talent. We have some youthful excitement, we have the right kind of veteran players.”
Compared to the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, Canada lost to Team USA in an overtime victory, 6-5. Canada sought some retaliation and supremacy over their country’s game of hockey. Canada reversed the outcome by winning ultimate reign of the best hockey team in the world by winning gold.
