Kings to ship G Kevin Martin to Rockets
Written by Benn J Hodapp, Thursday February 18 2010
Just hours before the NBA trade deadline, the Sacramento Kings agreed in principle to deal high-scoring guard Kevin Martin to the Houston Rockets in exchange for G Tracy McGrady late Wednesday.
Martin was taken out in the second half of a blowout loss to the Warriors Wednesday, reportedly because the trade had been reached.
The deal reportedly will send Martin, F Kenny Thomas, C Hilton Armstrong and G Sergio Rodriguez to the Rockets in exchange for McGrady, F Carl Landry, F Joey Dorsey and cash.
Sources say that the deal may ultimately send McGrady to the New York Knicks before the 3 p.m. Thursday deadline.
Martin, in his sixth year out of Western Carolina, averaged a career-best 24.6 points per game last year.
McGrady is in his 13th year in the league, but has been limited to just six games thus far in another injury-plagued season for the former All-Star.
