Rams Interested in Michael Vick?

Rumors have been swirling now for months that the St Louis Rams would be one of the top teams in trying to work a trade for Eagles quarterback Michael Vick.

There is a connection between the two teams as Rams General Manager Billy Devaney was the assistant G.M. in Atlanta while Vick was the Falcons quarterback. This is a wonder in itself because Devaney is still thinking about acquiring Vick even based on that experience.

Of course there is always the fact that the Rams have no quarterback options written in stone at this point. They are expected to release quarterback Marc Bulger because of his salary and signing Vick would let them take one of the two premier defensive tackles with the first overall pick in the upcoming draft.

Another problem is the uncertainty of the Rams ownership right now. Potential owner  Shahid Khan does not have any control over the team yet, so it might be a good idea Devaney to make sure that Khan would be agreeable to the idea of Vick coming to St. Louis.  If Khan does not like the idea, then it might not be smart to bring him to St. Louis.

On the other side of the spectrum, the Eagles have already goner through the initial shock wave of bringing in the reformed dogfighter and giving him a second chance, so that public relations nightmare would never happen. Vick would not have to go through the scrutiny he did prior to his time with the Eagles and he might just put some fans in the stands. And maybe help them win a few games too.

Oh please God, let this be true. Vick sucks and I always root against any teams that abandon their loyal fanbase for more money in another city. Vick is a loser in life and and on the football field, just like I've said all along.
