Brown: Jordan Wants to Buy Bobcats
The Charlotte Bobcats' Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown says that Michael Jordan is doing everything that he can to become the new owner of the team.
Brown says that Jordan "wants it badly" and is hopeful that he will soon be running the franchise. The former NBA great is already a part owner of the team. Jordan also has final say on all basketball decisions in his current position as a team executive.
What is unknown at this time is if Jordan will be able to put together an ownership group to be able to purchase the team from current Bobcats owner Bob Johnson. Johnson is looking to unload the unprofitable club and NBA Commissioner David Stern said during his annual All-Star break newsconference that he thinks that the Bobcats will be sold within the next 60 days.
Former Rockets executive George Postolos has made inquiries about buying the team but it is not known what Johnson's asking price will be.
Jordan has the right of first refusal as a part owner and hopes to keep the team in his home state.
