NBA Commissioner David Stern Expects Charlotte Bobcats to be Sold Within 60 Days
NBA Commissioner David Stern said at his annual All-Star news conference that he thinks the Charlotte Bobcats will be sold within 60 days, but he is not sure if Michael Jordan will be the buyer.
Jordan, already a minority investor in the team, has run the basketball operations since 2006 and has the right of first refusal on any sale of the team.
But Jordan is not the only one interested in buying the Bobcats. Former Houston Rockets executive George Postolos has also made several inquires into the possible sale of the team.
It is not currently know if Jordan has an ownership group in place to buy the team from Bob Johnson, who was the first African-American majority owner of a major professional sports franchise.
Jordan has said that he would be interested in buying the club outright from Johnson and Stern believes that the sale is imminent. "I think it might happen sooner rather than later," Stern said, "within the next 60 days or so."
