Organizers of the Adidas Grand Prix on June 12 on Randall's Island announced on Tuesday that three-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt will compete in the 100 meters this summer in New York City.

This will be Bolt's first competition in the United States since prior to the Beijing Olympics. Back in 2008, he set his first world record at this track meet. The Jamaican has called the track in this meet "lightning fast" and he says that he looks "forward to returning to the Big Apple."

Bolt won the 100, 200 and 4x100 races in Beijing in world-record time. He is also the reigning world champion in the 100 and 200.

The New York meet, which was formerly known as the Reebok Grand Prix, will be the fifth stop on the inaugural IAAF Diamond League circuit.
