Get Your Championship Picks

Time to put your two cents in for the Championship games.

AFC: Colts vs. Jets

Yes, I believe in curses.  I lived with the Curse of the Bambino for 35 years.  And it plagued the Red Sox for 86 years.  There must be some kind of curse against the Cubs.  Blame the billygoat or the crazy foul ball in 2003, there must be larger forces at work here.  So here is the latest curse I have discovered.  My own personal Playerpress curse.  I joined in May.  In June, the Lakers won the NBA Championship.  As a fan of the Celtics, this was the worst possible scenario.  Of course, as a baseball fan, I was still looking forward to the World Series.  And the worst possible scenario?  The Yankees won.  Fast forward to this Sunday.  On one hand, there are the Colts, one of the biggest rivals of the Patriots.  Peyton Manning could move one step closer to another Superbowl win and another ring closer to Tom Brady.  On the other hand, the Jets, the divisional rival of the Patriots.   This rivalry has always been heated, but the flames really turned up when Bill Parcells left New England to go to the Jets.  He often referred to the "border wars".  You can still see signs of these border wars as Boston is invaded by New York students.  A Superbowl on top of a World Series?  I am completely torn who to root for in this one.  But I really think the Colts will win.   I am not sure I will be disappointed if the Jets win.  I guess I really have to root for the NFC.

NFC: Saints vs. Vikings

So that brings me to the NFC.  I guess I should start thinking about which team has a better chance against the AFC.  It seems the best two teams are playing for the chance to make it to the Superbowl.  Drew Brees hopes to lead New Orleans to their first Superbowl appearance.  The Superdome has hosted more Superbowls than any other venue, and on Sunday it will host the NFC Championship for the first time.  This is a huge advantage, as the Vikings were 9-0 at home, but only 4-4 on the road.  Still, Brett Favre comes to New Orleans hoping to become the first quarterback to lead two different teams to Superbowl victories.  This could also lead to the first championship for the Vikings, who are 0-4 as a franchise.

The Picks....

My picks are Saints and Colts.  But I have only been half right the entire post season.  I have also been wrong about the Jets every week.  Following that logic, I will be wrong about the Jets and right about the Saints.  But I still pick the Saints and Colts anyway.  Here are the records so far, but feel free to leave your comments even if you are not listed here....

Chriso, I didn't make it into the pick'em league in time, so I never really checked these articles out. That's also the only reason I didn't win. See, there's a reason to be happy the Yankees won the WS. Could you imagine how insufferable I would have been if my Phillies won two in a row? Guess I'll just have to settle for 2 titles in 3 years.

No love for the Jets? Where is Kerri Senno? Or Benn, you could still battle it out with Nolan for the lowest win title.... still waiting for Boltmaster, or any newcomers who want to leave comments... B-Dub?

I'm taking Saints and Colts. And can someone remind Rex Ryan that his team has NO offense. He should be very afraid that the Colts aren't saying a word.
