PPFFL Super Bowl I Recap

I Would personally like to congratulate B-Dub and the Cleveland Steamers on their victory over my team, DaBares, in the 2009 PPFFL Super Bowl I.

The Steamers steamrolled over the DaBares 121-82 in a game that was never close.

This was just what the world needed, another Champion from the city of brotherly love with the best fans in the world, {total sarcasm}, Philadelphia.

The Dubster told us all from the very beginning of the season that he was going to win this thing, and low and behold, he did. Where is my barf bag?

The Steamers got good performances from numerous players in the game. Quarterback Donavan McNabb, whom was originally owned and drafted by DaBares, came through with 322 passing yards and 3 TD’s and 28 points.

The Browns Jerome Harrison came through with 148 rushing yards and 1 TD for 18 points. Receiver Anquan Bolden came through with 11 points with 116 yards.

Receiver Steve Smith of the Giants came through with 12 points and TE Jason Witten had 11. The 49ers DST came through big against the lowly Lions with a whopping 24 pints as well just to add insult to injury to DaBares.

As for my DaBares, nothing could have saved me. None of my reserves would have made up the difference so it was a lost cause from the first kickoff.

Quarterback Matt Ryan had a stellar 28 points with 250 passing yards and 3 TD’s to match the Steamers McNabb. Running back Marion Barber had 15 points with 63 rushing yards, 30 receiving yards and a TD. Receiver Larry Fitzgerald pulled in 10 points with 48 yards and a TD and Robert Meacham pulled down 12 points with 66 receiving yards and a TD.

Overall, it was a great season and I look forward to another season next year. Hopefully we will have every owner that is passionate and working his team every week unlike some of the owners this season which I will not call out by name at this time. You know who you are and you will not be invited back next season.

To those of you who were passionate and working your teams every week, great job! It made for an enjoyable and competitive season.

Overall, I think that the inaugural PPFFL season was a success and fun was had by all. The only negative was that the biggest trash talker, loud mouth, and “I am always right” B-Dub won it all as he so humbly predicted that he would all season.

Don’t you just hate it when the team that everyone loves to hate wins it all?

Oh well, such is life, Congrats once again goes out to the Cleveland Steamers, who in my humbled opinion had the perfect team name to go along with the owners personality.

Congrats B-Dub, I promise to be more competitve next year...this season I quit with my first-round pick, Steve "Fumblemania" Slaton. The Iggles actually have a shot this season, which would be double painful for all of us suddenly-long-suffering Giants fans. Keep in touch beeyatches...next year the Flash Greyhounds will rule the PPFFL!!!

Hey wait. Is that Queen's classic, "We Are the Champions" playing in the background?

I was told there was an actual plaque. I will pick it up when I'm in Vegas on the Playboy golf outing advertised on our site. I mean, I read somewhere that the winner was getting that free trip, so it must be true right?

Congrats B-Dub... is there an actual plaque? or just a printout of this article hanging in your office?

Kerri, what's this "soul" thing you speak of?

Oh Nolan, don't hate the player, hate the game. Or the total lack of a game from the other owners. I do believe that I deserve a ton of credit for this win. I not only had a fine draft, if I do say so myself, but I made masterful moves throughout the entire season. Picking up an injurd McNabb and stashing him on my bench enabled me to trade Ben Roethlisberger for Carolina WR Steve Smith. I made other free agent pickups that contributed to my team, like WR Mike Sims-Walker, RB Jamaal Charles and just for the Championship game, RB Jerome Harrison and the 49ers D. I mean, starting any defense against Playerpress contributor, Drew Stanton was a no-brainer right? It was a fun season and I look forward to defending my crown again next year.

Haha, nice recap, Nolan. Congrats B-Dub, you deserved it; however, I hope you received more than a Fantasy Football League championship when you sold your soul. Just kiddddddding.
