A Loss on the road against Dallas
Written by Niki Ghazian, Tuesday October 27 2009
After getting home from Dallas and losing 24-12, the past few days have been really hard on me.
Everything that could have went wrong on our offense DID go wrong. We did not play like the team we are, and I know it was a mental issue more than anything. I don't want to mention details, but lets just say yelling in our Quarterback's face when you aren't our coach, as we are about to run out of the tunnel, isn't going to exactly help her have her mind clear for the game. This was the first thing in a domino effect that completely caused our offense to crumble. Now I'm not saying Dallas had a bad Defense, their Linebacker was one of the smartest I've seen. Dallas is a solid team, first and foremost because their coaching staff is amazing. The girls all seem like they have a great focus because of that, and their passing game is legit. But it still pisses me off that another team gets to take credit for us essentially defeating ourselves before we even got on the field. We should have been scoring everytime we touched the ball, but our plays were over before they even left the backfield due to an offensive error that shouldn't have been made.
The LFL game is two seventeen minute halves, so as you can tell, there isn't enough time to make mistakes because there won't be any time left to fix them. It seems that it was one thing after another with us on offense, one mistake after another. The mental focus just wasn't there. We are a great team, and we completely choked in my opinion this past Friday night. That game didn't go the way it should have simply because our offense crumbled. It will be obvious when you watch the game that this isn't a team that doesn't know how to play, but a team that was having serious issues that Friday night.
We are going to come back from this and be mentally stronger for our next game against Seattle. I spent the remainder of the weekend after we got back watching tape on San Diego and Seattle, all we can do is move forward and secure our spot in the playoffs in Miami where we will probably see Dallas again.
The one thing I wish, was that after the San Diego v. Dallas game, we had not hung out with the Dallas team. That really messed me up, because they were all cool girls, a lot like my teamates and I in personality. I did not go out there and play with the ruthlessness I normally play with for that reason. I mean I really don't want to know the team I'm going to play, makes it a lot harder to knock their heads off.
Moving forward, this was a learning experience for us, and definitely a low point for our offense. We are going to make the adjustments that need to be made and come together to fix this focus issue that showed its face that night.

Go Dallas Desire !! A brilliant performance, as for your LA Temps, think of it this way if the big double D go on to win the Lingerie Bowl a 24-12 defeat against the champions is certainly not a bad result. A lot of football to be played yet ladies but I'm sticking with the Desire as Lingerie Bowl winners in 2010.
