With the BCS title on their mantle the Gators own the state of Florida. Therefore, having the pick of a bumper crop comes with the heady territory of National Champion. The Gators definitely picked some prize players from the rosters of the Sunshine State high schools and what they couldn’t land within the Florida borders they went out and got elsewhere. As a result they have a fine class of recruits and the ability to keep the glass football in their grip for another season.

Those unheralded offensive lineman win games in their silent way and the Gators got one who could quietly keep a QB happy and Heisman bound. Nick Alajajian is a 6’4”, 280 pound OT who earned a five star rating from rivals.com. He also garnered All American honor from Max Prep and was voted the male athlete of the year for 2008 by the Marco Island YMCA. He played for Naples High School, Naples, FL and gave up one sack in 2007. That year the team went 16-0 and won the 3A Championship. His speed, agility and footwork are highly rated.

Along with keeping them back you have to be able to knock them down and LB Jon Bostic from Wellington High School, Palm Beach Central, FL has the experience when it comes to tackling. He recorded over 100 as a junior. He played both sides of the ball and recorded 458 yards with 6 TDs in 75 carries. His father, for whom he is named, played in the NFL. He is 6’2” and 225 lbs.

Gary Brown will be lining up in front of Bostic. The 6’4” 275 lbs. DT played for Greensboro High School, West Gadsden, FL. He comes highly rated with the overall #2 ranking for his position from ESPNU and rivals.com. He was also named an Under Amour All American in 2008 and a FSWA All State First Team in his junior and senior seasons. He recorded over 40 sacks in his last two seasons and had 114 tackles as a junior.

With these defense stalwarts the Gators should have their offense on the field for a large portion of the game and they have a notable WR in Andre Debose from Sanford High School, Seminole, FL. The 5’11”, 176 pound offensive threat accumulated some eye opening stats in HS. Playing as a WR, QB and RB he gained over 2,000 yards. He caught 27 passes for 664 yards and six TDs. In a more rush oriented high school scheme he had 117 carries for 1,332 yards and 12 TDs. As a member of the track team he ran the 100 meters in 10.68 and the 200 meters in 22.21.

Some of the out of state players to commit to the U of F are Josh Evans, DB, Irvington High School, Irvington, NJ. He was a Star-Ledger Essex County Player of the Year. He is joined by Dee Finley from Auburn, AL. Finley is a 6’3” 193 lbs. safety.
