T.O. Already Being T.O.
Written by Nolan Thomas, Monday March 23 2009
In my mind, if an NFL player just signed with a new team, I think that it would be advantageous to attend all of the team’s offseason activities whether or not they were mandatory for players to attend.
But then again, most players are not Terrell Owens. Mr. Self Proclaimed Idol was a no-show for the start of the Buffalo Bills’ voluntary workouts this week. The Bills brass is saying that Owens usually keeps himself in great shape so they are not concerned.
Even under the NFL rules governing offseason workouts, players are only required to attend the mandatory minicamp in June.
Owens signed with the Bills on March 7, and I personally believe that it would have been a good gesture to show up for all of the Bills offseason workouts. It is a new team and it would have gone a long way in showing the Bills and your new teammates that you are going to be a team player and that you are willing to work hard to change the current perception about yourself.
But not T.O., he’s too good for that. The prima donna is already strutting his attitude that he is too good for this “voluntary” stuff.
Why should he show up for something that he is technically not required to show up for? I mean the guy is Terrell Owens, the worlds gift to wide receivers. The anointed one who does not have time for this type of insignificant team workout. He is too good for that.
T.O. is a man among boys on his new team.
There is absolutely no reason the teams new “superstar” should show up for a minuet and unimportant, strictly voluntary workout.
Everyone on the team knows who he is. There is no reason to show up, meet your new teammates, get to know them, work together with them in order to bond and start the new year with your new team on a positive note. Nope, not for T.O.
It is not a mandatory team function. Therefore, it is a hindrance on his valuable time. God forbid that he shows up for something that he really, by league rules, not required to show up for. No reason to be there to show the Bills brass that maybe, just maybe, he is going to be a different player and teammate this year. That would be too much to hope for I guess.
In addition, what an opportunity to get your name back in the news. Regardless of how negative it makes you look. With T.O. it is all about him and some things will never change.
This would have been a great opportunity for T.O. to get to know his new quarterback, to bond with him and to get the new season with a new team off on the right foot.
However, T.O. is T.O. and some things just never change.

Yep, but it's all about performance. He always plays hard has great stats. If he a good year who cares if he attends the first few sessions.
