Q&A WITH ANTHONY BURCH
Q: What is the fondest memory of your college career and/or semi-pro?
One of my fondest moments getting to play college football and also semi pro memories was getting the experience for both different football worlds, but the different challenges it threw at me, but the best was while playing college football how quickly I picked up the speed against the older guys and getting them to see how hard I work against them, and to always push the limits while at practices and such.
Q: Who was the toughest competitor you faced in college and/or semi-pro?
In the Semi-pro world my toughest competitor was a gentleman from Zanesville who played for The Ohio State University. And in college my teammate we called him tree was my toughest as he went to go play for the New Orleans Saints.
Q: What was your best game in college or semi-pro football?
My best game would probably be in semi pro were I got traded to a different team where, the team made me an instant starter after a game because I recorded 6 tackles 2 sacks and a fumble recovery.
Q: What was your favorite NFL team growing up?
My favorite NFL team growing up was the Miami Dolphins and also Carolina panthers, as of today I am a San Diego Charger fan
Q: Who was your favorite player?
Ray Lewis, because his speeches were inspirational, people doubted him because of his size and he left everything on the field, giving 110% every play.
Q: Which current NFL player most resembles you?
I would say a combination of two people, one would be Vince Wilfork because I can control the line of scrimmage and also almost a JJ Watt as well because with my size people underestimate my quickness for my size that I can get to the quarterback.
Q: What would your former teammates say about you?
My former teammates say about me is my hard work and dedication to any team is outstanding, I never miss a practice, I work hard on and off the field, I have great drive and motivation, I’m a great teammate, and I also like to get bonds with my teammates and make them my brother and go to war with them. I will go up against anybody for competition, even if you’re a rookie, or a veteran, I train and practice hard to outdo the other guys.
Q: What are you presently doing as far as training?
As far as training I try to train 5 days a week with weightlifting and also running after every workout
Q: What is your favorite combine drill (40, Shuttle, 3-Cone, Bench, Broad, Vert)?
Q: Why do you believe you have been flying below the radar as a football player?
I believe I’m flying under the radar because when people see my weight or so they feel as if I can’t run as far or I can’t make it through a full football game, when that’s not the case or when people say I’m not tall enough for this position, it really makes me drive more and more every day to better myself.
Q: What do you want to do besides football?
If I never have a football career I am doing my best as of right now to be a state trooper for the state of Ohio.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
I love to work out and be very active and play video games. I usually like to relax because I push my body to its limits and just want to recover, to perform the next day.
Q: If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?
Three people that I would pick is my papa(grandpa) because when he was younger he was very much active in the WWE or WWF back in the day, and he also promoted big events, with the top wrestlers during that time such as Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant and more. My second person would be CT Fletcher, because not only is he a powerlifting champion he had his flaws when he was younger, getting in trouble with the law but he turned his life around and made nothing out of something with his family, and is successful with his own business and like Ray Lewis he also gives great inspirational speeches that I really enjoy listening to. My third person would be Junior Seau, because on the chargers I learned a lot about him when I first started liking the team and I watched videos on him and he had an amazing career before his death and I would be honored to talk to him and would be a privilege. These are three people I would enjoy lunch with and have a great conversation with.
