What Happened To The Game?

The game should be the news.

When the biggest news story of a professional sport has nothing to actually do with playing the game, we have a major problem in my opinion.

In case you haven’t heard, the biggest news concerning the NFL for the past few weeks has been the disciplinary action regarding former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, a video of him knocking his fiancé out in an elevator and the punishment Commissioner Roger Goodell handed out.

Yes, Rice was way out of hand and gives new meaning to the Aerosmith song “Love in an Elevator,” but it has gotten way out of hand when it is the biggest news story. Football should be the biggest news story, not the brutal and idiotic actions of one player off the field.

I agree that Rice should be suspended from the NFL for life because of his actions off the field, but I am sick and tired of hearing about it already.

The NFL media has gone way overboard this season with the news they are reporting. First off all we were hearing about on a daily basis was about a gay seventh round draft choice and now it is all about Rice and Goodell.

Can we just get back to the actual game and start talking about football again?
