Brian Hoyer for Andre Johnson? Really?
The internet was on fire for a few hours Wednesday with the possibility that a major blockbuster trade was going down. Rumor had it that the Cleveland Browns were going to trade Brian Hoyer to the Houston Texans for Andre Johnson.
Boom.
The whole mess started when the Browns signed Rex Grossman. A capable back-up that is familiar with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan already could conceivably make whomever loses the competiton for the starting job tradable.
From that theory and Johnson insisting on being traded during the off-season the rumors grew until people were announcing the trade had gone through and it was breaking news.
Is it going to happen? Is it possible? Well—anything is possible, but that doesn’t mean anything. For all intents and purposes this is one trade rumor that has absolutely no bite to it (much like the Houston offense).BREAKING: The #Texans have moved disgruntled WR Andre Johnson to the #Browns for QB Brian Hoyer. For anyone who might be interested: Texans won't be trading for Brian Hoyer. I've seen that one making the rounds.
