Controversy in Cleveland already?
Cleveland Browns defensive back Donte Whitner has been known to stir up a hornet’s nest or two when he feels like it, and he briefly did when he claimed the locker room was split on Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer.
“It’s been fierce,” Whitner said of the competition. “Two guys fighting for their lives. It’s close. I’d say [the locker room] is split about 50-50. We know they both can play.”
That sparked a rumor that Manziel had surpassed Hoyer on the depth chart; something head coach Gus Bradley was quick to shoot down.
When asked about it Manziel was just as quick to deny the existence of any divide:
“I don’t feel any rift like that or anything going on in the locker room,” Manziel told reporters
on Monday. “…I don’t really know if there’s an exact split like that. It’s not something I’m really aware of right now.…”
