The NFL handed down a few drug suspensions Thursday—one of them to Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan.
Unlike most players who claim they were just taking Adderall so fans don’t assume they were taking anything else (because fans believe whatever football players say of course) he decided on a different route.
He admitted to taking banned stimulants.
“I recently learned from the NFL that I tested positive for stimulants that are banned under the NFL policy,” Jordan said. “I worked carefully with my advisors and the union to investigate the test results, and I take full responsibility for the test results.”
It’s a little unusual to hear someone admit guilt so freely, but it sounds like he was unaware what he took was against the rules.
So it is good that he’s fessing up and taking responsibility since there is no one to blame but himself. At a cost of about $900,000 ($116K salary and $784K bonus) it’s a pretty expensive lesson to learn.
