Is Chris Carter Back on Drugs?
Is Chris Carter Back on Drugs?

Chris Carter had a Hall of Fame career with the Minnesota Vikings, but not until after he was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles.  Now he seems to forget exactly why that happened.

Maybe it's time for another intervention for Pro Football Hall of Famer, Chris Carter.

I mean, he's either back on drugs or the biggest hypocrite on the planet.

You decide.

In response to the Philadelphia Eagles releasing receiver DeSean Jackson, Carter tweeted out, "@DeseanJackson10 congrats Bro.  Praying this is the 2nd biggest mistake @Eagles made in their history by cutting their best WR. #2ndchances."

For those of you who are not aware, Carter was cut by the Eagles 24 years ago under the same sort of cloudy situation that Jackson was released this week.  Nobody could believe that the Eagles would simply release their best receiver back then, just as nobody can believe the team is doing the same thing now.

Back then, Eagles coach Buddy Ryan said he released Carter because, "All he does is catch touchdowns."  Ryan was ridiculed for years for such a stupid move, when Carter went on to have a Hall of Fame career with the Vikings.  It wasn't until years later that the truth came out.

The truth was that Carter had a serious drug and alcohol problem and Ryan cut him to try to scare him straight.  Fortunately for Carter, it worked.

Carter even acknowledged that fact in his Hall of Fame induction speech.

"What Buddy Ryan did was the best thing that ever happened for me when he cut me and told me I couldn't play for his football team," Carter said during his speech.

Carter has admitted to prior drug and alcohol abuse many times, before and after that speech, and always credits Ryan with saving his career and his life.  But now he seems to have forgotten that........

Or maybe he's just another hypocritical athlete turned commentator who talks out of both sides of his mouth.

I'll let you decide that one.
