The Philadelphia Eagles surprised the world when they released wide receiver DeSean Jackson due to suspected gang ties. He of course became the most sought after free agent on the market with several teams interested in adding one of the most productive receivers in the game.
But a couple of teams were quick to drop out of the running. Carolina may have figured out that they don’t want to meet his salary demands, but Kansas City dropping out of the running was a bit of a surprise.
If there is anyone that should know what kind of person Jackson is—or how to manage him—it is the man that drafted him, current Kansas City head coach Andy Reid. However, after doing their due diligence the Chiefs took themselves out of the running.
Why? Why isn’t the coach that knows him best and could really use a wide receiver like Jackson not pursuing him?
It could very well be nothing, but it sure is interesting.
