Wants out of Boston.

The New England Patriots wanted veteran defensive tackle Vince Wilfork to restructure his contract but the big guy has other ideas and has asked the team for his unconditional release instead.

Wilfork is scheduled to make a base salary of $7.5 million this year which will count as $11.6 million against the salary cap which the Patriots don’t want to pay for a 31-year-old defensive lineman rehabbing an Achilles injury.

It will be interesting to see what the Patriots decide to do on this one, save cap space or open a huge hole on their defensive line.
