"The journey is over and I am fully at peace."

Running Back Rashard Mendenhall, a former first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers who played for the Arizona Cardinals last season is retiring from the NFL after only six seasons in the league at age 26.

Mendenhall has not been the same running back since tearing his ACL two years ago and even though he could probably still earn an NFL paycheck has decided to hang up his cleats.

In his NFL career Mendenhall rushed for 4,236 yards with 37 touchdowns, with his best season coming in 2010 when he had 1,273 yards and 13 touchdowns in helping the Steelers reach the Super Bowl.
