I told y'all I was innocent!
The offseason started a lot like you would expect for the quarterback of the New York Jets on January 17 when Geno Smith was kicked off of a Virgin Atlantic flight after a disagreement with a flight attendant.
Smith claimed he was innocent of course--much to the amusement of the media—and as it turns out he was right:
Virgin America apologizes to Geno Smith 4 recent incident. Was "result of a misunderstanding that regrettably escalated unnecessarily" #nyj— Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) January 23, 2014
The Jets QB responded to the apology with a statement of his own: “I really appreciate Virgin America took this seriously… I look forward to flying their airline again soon.”
The whole mess stemmed from a flight attendant asking Smith to remove his headphones before the flight took off. However, while the incident may have escalated quicker than it needed to because of a misunderstanding there was still no need for Smith to yell and curse at the flight attendant like he did.
