Seven more years.

The Chicago Bears did not wait long to sign free agent quarterback Jay Cutler to a seven year deal with the team on Thursday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the fact that the deal was done so quickly tells you that GM Phil Emery believes in Cutler for the team’s future.

Emery said that Cutler is "a quarterback we can win with. Jay doesn't have to be better than Aaron Rodgers. Our team has to be better than the Green Bay Packers."

Cutler compared his relationship with coach Marc Trestman to a marriage said, "I'm happy to be married to him for seven more years."

I addition Cutler knows that some will disagree with his signing and acknowledged that fact by saying, "Moving forward there will definitely be people that say this is the wrong move. That's fine. The people in this building will stick together and keep going in the direction that is right."

While there are Cutler haters out there, this seasons 8-8 record stands on a weak defense that couldn’t stop anything and not on Jay Cutler and the offense who averaged more points per game than any team since 1984.
