On Monday in Nyon, Uefa general secretary Gianni Infantino extracted the famous balls of the Champions League draw. What shall we expect from the Last 16?

Manchester City and Barcelona were the first to be drawn out of the hat, with Manuel Pellegrini reacquainting himself with the country he left last summer. Obviously, it will be a special tie for the City board with Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano once learning their trade at the Camp Nou.

Talking of reunions, Jose Mourinho got what he wanted. After the win against Steaua Bucharest, the Portuguese manager clearly stated: “Drogba would deserve to come back at Stamford Bridge more than I do.” Done.

The same applies to former Atlético de Madrid goalkeeper Cristian Abbiati who hoped that AC Milan would be drawn against the Spanish side. Some say that Diego Simeone’s boys are an Italian team in the Spanish league – hard to beat. So we should be ready for some tough contest there, although Atlético seem to be clear favorites.

Arsenal v Bayern certainly promises to be entertaining, although it provides exactly the same fixture as last year. The English side were close to an incredible comeback in the second leg. They hope to have a better approach this time around, of course.

Arsenal paid the price for not achieving top spot in their group and earned a very tough draw. Quite the contrary applied to other teams like Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germain, Manchester United and Real Madrid who will all face supposedly easy opposition in the shape of Zenit, Bayer Leverkusen, Olympiacos and Schalke. We look forward to the first kick of the ball on February 18.
