Da' Coach is getting da' number retired.

Monday is going to be a special day for Da’ Coach, Iron Mike Ditka. The former linebacker and head coach of the Chicago Bears is going to have his number retired during half time of Monday night’s Bears game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Ditka definitely has the resume to warrant the honor. The team made him a first round pick back in 1961 (No. 5). He was a 5x-All Pro and Pro Bowl player with the Bears, but is probably known best for the decade he acted as the team’s head coach (1982-92; winner of Super Bowl XX in ’85).

When you are done playing you hope that you left a lasting legacy on the organization, and this is certainly an indicator that he has done just that—in case there was ever any doubt. Just to make sure there isn’t any doubt the governor has declared Monday to be Mike Ditka Day in Illinois.

So go grow a moustache, trade all your draft picks for Ricky Williams, and have a braut. Da’Coach would want it that way.
