No love for RG3 from his head coach.
A juicy one popped up earlier this week. Supposedly Washington Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan did not want the team to draft the Heisman trophy winner. He wanted Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill instead.
.@stephenasmith says he has sources who say shanahan wanted tannehill, rather than trade up for griffin. maaaan, where to begin with THAT?— Bomani Jones (@bomani_jones) November 18, 2013
If it’s true you have to wonder why they traded away so much in order to move up and grab Griffin in the draft. Then again, owner Dan Snyder has been known to make big deals for players he thinks people will want to watch (right Albert Haynesworth?).
So it could be that it was Snyder and general manager Bruce Allen that wanted Griffin. Once he was picked Shanahan didn’t have a choice.
