Duck Boats Parade in Boston Streets

Red Sox celebrate third championship in 10 years.

Johnny Gomes said it after the Sox won the World Series. "Cue the duck boats".

Boston seems to be getting used to these parties, having won eight championships in four sports in 12 years. The mayor even got a little confused, predicting before the series that the Red Sox would win the World Series cup. Maybe he thought the Bruins were still competing for Lord Stanley's prize.

This is the same mayor who in the 90s had a parade for Ray Bourque after he won in Colorado. The long time Bruin left the team to win a championship. But that was a decade when Boston did not have any titles.

It's different now, the mayor can't keep the awards straight.  He is retiring, possibly because he is so tired from attending parades.

With an opening at Mayor, the city might elect David Ortiz. Ortiz won the 2013 World Series MVP, and is the only player from all three Red Sox championships. He is the first non-Yankee to win three with one team since Jim Palmer. The Orioles won in 66, 70, and 83.
