Boston joins St. Louis in another rematch

On Saturday, the Boston Red Sox eliminated the Detroit Tigers from the ALCS. Shane Victorino hit a grand slam on route to a 5-2 victory. Boston won the series 4 games to 2.

The Red Sox will host the Cardinals on Wednesday for the start of the World Series. The two teams met in the 1946 World Series, which the Cardinals won. That was the only World Series appearance for the late great Ted Williams.

The two teams also met in the 1967 World Series. Bob Gibson and the Cardinals ended Boston's impossible dream. The Red Sox had a little bit of revenge when they beat St. Louis in 2004. That win ended an 86 year drought for Boston.
