When Did the NFL Become MLB's Bitch?

Ridiculous.

Help me out here.  When did the NFL become Major League Baseball's bitch?

Apparently, the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders game on Sunday has been moved back seven hours due to the MLB playoffs.

The Raiders and Oakland A's share the same stadium, O.co Coliseum, and the A's are hosting the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the AL Division Series on Saturday night at 6:37 pm PST.  The Raiders-Chargers game was scheduled to start at 1:25 pm, but the stadium operators needed more time to convert the stadium from baseball to football.  That's why the NFL moved their game back to an 8:35 kickoff.

But the question is, why?

The NFL is much bigger than MLB.  So I don't see why they would make such a change.  It will not only be an inconvenience to all of the people who have tickets to the game, but also any fans watching on television.  The game will be broadcast on the NFL Network, with kickoff around midnight on the east coast.

This is especially curious because Bud Selig and MLB already screwed the NFL when they wouldn't move a Baltimore Orioles game to accommodate the NFL season opener.  Normally, the NFL champ gets to host the season's first game on Thursday night of Week 1, but the Orioles had a game that day and refused to move it.  The Ravens had to open on the road in Denver and got blown out.

I guess NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is trying to be a good sport, but I don't think it makes any sense.  The NFL is hurting the fans of those teams and hurting their own network's ratings.

The NFL had their game scheduled first, so they should have made MLB rearrange their schedule.  It wouldn't have been that hard anyway.  The NL teams are playing their series on Thursday and Friday night and the AL series are on Saturday and Sunday.  They could have easily swapped that.

The NFL should have flexed their considerable muscle.  Instead, they bowed down to baseball yet again.

Come on Roger, grow a pair.
