Peyton Manning?

Week 4 is behind us, and that means we're a quarter of the way through the NFL season already. We've seen some pretty amazing things already, from the Broncos' explosive offense to the Seahawks' equally impressive defense, to Andy Reid's turnaround in Kansas City, and many more headlines.

But we're also starting to get a clear picture of a few players in contention for the offensive MVP award. So here are our 1st quarter top-5 rankings in this category.

5. Eddie Royal
Eddie Royal is, frankly, not someone you expect to see on any MVP shortlist, and really not even the most well known of players. We'll put it this way: if you're looking for a Chargers jersey, you'll probably find at least 3 of his teammates' selling better than his. Yet Royal is having an outstanding season in 2013 so far. His 5 TD's through Week 4 are a major reason the Chargers look like a team that could overachieve.

4. Drew Brees
More of the same from Drew Brees, who is pretty standard in MVP discussions these days. The Saints appear to be on a mission, revitalized with coach Sean Payton back on the sidelines, and Brees is putting up his usual brilliant numbers.

3. Russell Wilson
Wilson's numbers, at this point, are good - not great. In fact, if you take a quick look at the poplar sports betting & news site BetFair, where one of the options you can bet on in football is who will lead the NFL in passing yards, you won't even see Wilson's name on the list unless you scroll down. But he's not really a numbers guy - Wilson is the driving force and leader on a Seattle team that's looking just about unbeatable, and if they keep up their stellar play, he'll stay in the conversation.

2. LeSean McCoy
McCoy had a bit of a down week in Week 4 as the Eagles took a beating from the Broncos, and still managed 73 yards. On the season, however, McCoy has been far and away the most productive RB in the league. His 395 total rushing yards are almost 100 ahead of the next best rusher, and if he keeps up that kind of pace he'll have a real shot at the MVP.

1. Peyton Manning
With the exception of the infamous "Football On Your Phone" DirecTV ads, Manning is having a magical season. Through 4 games, Manning has a 73% completion rating, and has thrown for over 1100 yards, with 12 TD's and 0 INT's. Those are god-like numbers, and with Denver's offense looking like one of the deadliest of all time, there's no reason he'd slow down. Manning is in position to run away with the MVP award.
