Nate Jackson, a former Denver Broncos tight end said in a Bloomberg View article that the NFL should take marijuana off the leagues banned substance list.

“The NFL should remove marijuana from their banned substances list,” Jackson said. “Don't tell anyone about it: just stop testing for it. Pain is a big problem in the NFL. Pain management is necessary. Weed is the least harmful and least addictive of the painkillers players use to cope with the violent demands of the game.”

Jackson states that playing football in the NFL is a painful occupation and that most players do not really like the prescribed pain killers that team doctors give them because of the side effects, not too mention the addiction possibilities.

He goes on to state that most players medicated on their own and that pot was the drug of choice.
