Every sports fan dreams of playing with and against their favorite athletes.  Well now you can and you don't even need to get off your couch.

Retired Chicago Bears linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer launched OverDog earlier this year, which is an app that allows fans to play video games against over 200 professional athletes from the NFL, MLB, NBA, MLS, WWE and UFC.  The app is an NFLPA licensee, so Hillenmeyer said they are just concentrating on NFL players during the fall.

"I think part of the beauty of OverDog is we've found a way to build a great experience for athletes based on existing behavior," Hillenmeyer said.  "A lot of these guys [athletes] go home and play hours of video games every night, so we're not trying to get them to do something they're not already doing."

Overdog was originally released as an iOS app, but it became available for Android on Monday.

Fans can download the app on their mobile devices to play on Playstation or XBox. Then they can sign up to challenge athletes such as David Price (who is on the company's advisory board), Matt Forte, Calvin Johnson and Ray Rice.

How cool would it be to be able to tell your buddies that you hit a walk-off homer off of David Price or stuffed Ray Rice at the goal line? Well, thanks to Hillenmeyer and OverDog, that dream is now a reality.

"Obviously Ray Rice is a better football player than any fan he's going to play against, but when you get the controller in their hands it's kind of an equalizer," Hillenmeyer said "That's part of the fun."

Gamers rejoice.
