Great idea!

New Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman was the offensive coordinator for the 2002 Oakland Raiders, which went to the Super Bowl, and Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and running back Matt Forte have dusted off the video to help them understand the offense and how there new coach thinks.

Cutler watched film of quarterback Rich Gannon, who won the NFL MVP under Trestman’s tutelage that season.

“He slung it around,” With a smile Cutler said of Gannon: “They had a lot of empty sets, a lot of shifts and motions and quick games. The ball was gone. He was fun to watch. He threw it from about every angle possible. He was very very successful under Trestman and these guys.”

Forte watched video of running back Charlie Garner, who had 91 receptions along with 962 rushing yards with seven touchdowns.

“I looked at Charlie Garner, not the numbers so much as the routes he ran, how he ran those routes, where he lined up on the field,” Forte said. “He was basically in every position on the field as a receiver: backside, front side, and slot. We’ve been doing that throughout camp and I’m excited about that.”
