Jerry Sandusky Wants Local Jurors
Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, who is accused of sexually abusing 10 young boys over a 15-year period, wants local community jurors to be chosen for his trial.
The statement comes after Sandusky’s attorney, Joe Amendola, filed court documents to oppose a request by the state attorney general's office to use out-of-county jurors.
Amendola fears that because of the massive news coverage that a jury chosen from other counties will be saturated with the persuasive media accounts of the case.
The state attorney claims that jurors from Sandusky’s home county would have loyalty to Penn State which could cause “conscious and even subconscious conflicts and difficulties.”
