Schilling Makes A New Pitch
Written by Christopher Corazon, Wednesday February 08 2012
It's a mad, mad, marketing world. One former baseball players started selling video games. One baseball team is selling cologne, while another is selling a ball signed by a reality star.
Curt Schilling used to pitch for the Phillies, Diamondbacks, and Red Sox in the World Series. Now he is pitching for 38 Studios, his new video game company. He was on radio row at the Super Bowl to announce their first release. It is not a baseball game, but rather fantasy along the idea of "Lord Of The Rings".
The Yankees are also in the marketing game. They introduced two new fragrances: Yankees for him and Yankees for her. There is no truth to the rumor the Nationals also thought about having their own product because everyone knows the Nats stink. As for me, I'm a Red Sox fan, so I would never want a cologne to smell like the Yankees. At the same time, the idea of getting "the scent of the Red Sox" is not very appealing. Maybe they could partner with Odor Eaters: "Odor Eaters for your Sox".
Meanwhile, the Twins are also selling something. Well, not actually selling, they are auctioning off a ball signed by reality star Kim Khardashian and Kris Humphries. They will take bids for about another week, but buyer beware. There is a good chance that ball will fall apart at the seams after about 72 days.
