Pierce Passes Larry Legend
Written by Christopher Corazon, Tuesday February 07 2012
The Boston Celtics have more championships than any other team in the NBA. The LA Lakers are second, but some of their championships were won in Minnesota, and one of those wasn't even NBA. Still, if you look at the history of these two teams, you could compile an impressive list of the league's best players.
The all time records for these teams include a who's who in the NBA. And that's why it is noteworthy when sompeone moves up the list. Paul Pierce did that on Tuesday Night. He passsed Larry Bird into second place on the scoring list. Pierce needed 9 points to tie Bird at 21,791. He finished with 15 as the Celtics beat Charlotte.
Pierce has a way to go before he makes the top of the list. John Havlicek holds that record with 26,395.
