NFL Honors Awards
For the first time in NFL history, the individual awards were presented with the glitz and glamour of a full-blown, made-for-TV extravaganza.
Here are the winners of this years most prestigious NFL awards.
AP Offensive Rookie of the Year, AP Rookie of the Year, Pepsi Rookie of the Year
Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers
Yep, all three! Newton broke Peyton Manning's rookie passing record, set a single-season mark for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback and was the first player in NFL history to throw for 4,000 yards and rush for 500 yards.
AP Defensive Rookie of the Year
Von Miller, LB, Denver Broncos
Von Miller had 64 tackles, 11.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries and helped turn the Broncos pass rush into one of the NFL's best.
AP Comeback Player of the Year
Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions
Stafford stayed healthy in 2011 and became just the fourth QB to throw for 5,000 yards and led the Lions to their first playoff berth in 12 years.
AP Coach of the Year
Jim Harbaugh, San Francisco 49ers
In his first year as an NFL head coach, Harbaugh guided the 49ers to seven more wins then in 2010, an NFC West title and a trip to the NFC Championship Game.
AP Offensive Player
Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans Saints
Brees shattered Dan Marino's 27-year-old single-season passing record.
AP Defensive Player
Terrell Suggs, LB, Baltimore Ravens
Suggs accounted for 70 tackles, 14 sacks, seven forced fumbles and two interceptions.
Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year Award
John McKissick, Summerville (South Carolina)
McKissick retired from coaching in 2011 after 60 years coaching Summerville High in South Carolina where he piled up 594 victories, more then anyone in the history of American football on any level.
Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year
Matt Birk, C, Baltimore Ravens
Birk won for the work he has done with his HIKE Foundation, which provides educational opportunities and supplies to at-risk youth.
Never Say Never Moment of the Year
Tebow Time
The Denver Broncos' come from behind 17-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
NFL Play of the Year
Randall Cobb, KR, Green Bay Packers
Packers Rookie Randall Cobb returns a kickoff 108 yards for a score in the third quarter of the first game of the season against the New Orleans Saints.
AP Most Valuable Player
Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers
Rodgers had a fairly flawless season in leading the Packers to a 15-1 season.
