Many questions have been asked whether or not Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning would ever play another down in the NFL due to a neck injury which caused him to miss the entire 2011 season.

According to two doctors, including Dr. Robert Watkins, who performed the most recent surgery on Manning’s neck, the quarterback has been cleared to resume his NFL career.

While Manning will have to continue an aggressive rehabilitation path, the news provides optimism that he will in fact play in 2012.

The only questions that remain is whether his nerve regeneration to his triceps will improve to the point where he will be playing at the high level he has throughout his career and what uniform he will be wearing next season.

It is no secret that the Colts will probably be picking Andrew Luck as the No. 1 overall pick in Aprils NFL Draft and that Colts owner Jim Irsay may not want to pay a $28 million option bonus that Manning is due on March 8, which would give the quarterback his unconditional release making him an unrestricted free agent.

If Manning does in fact become an unrestricted free agent there are numerous teams expected to bid for his services.
