Yankees Hire Former Cubs GM Hendry
The New York Yankees have hired former Chicago Cubs general manager Jim Hendry as a special assignment scout and new special assistant to General Manager Brian Cashman.
Hendry will help the Yankees scout major league talent as well as be involved with a minor league grading system and assisting the team with the draft.
Hendry was a 17-year employee and GM for the Cubs from July 2002 until this past Aug. 18, when he was fired.
He guided the Cubs to three playoffs appearances, including back-to-back in 2007-2008.
However, those seasons were followed with a second- and a fifth-place finish before Hendry was fired, mostly for being unable to help the team win the World Series for the first time in over a hundred years.
