Bears hire Phil Emery as GM
Written by Nolan Thomas, Saturday January 28 2012
The Chicago Bears have officially announced the hiring of Phil Emery, the director of college scouting for the Kansas City Chiefs, as their new General Manager.
Emery, who will be the fifth GM in Bears history, is replacing 11-year Bears GM Jerry Angelo, who was fired Jan. 3.
This will be Emery’s second stint with the Bears as he worked for the team as an area scout from 1998 to 2004.
From 2004-08, Emery served as director of college scouting for the Atlanta Falcons and in addition he worked as a regional scout for the Falcons prior to the 2009 draft.
Emery will be officially introduced by the Bears in a Monday news conference at Halas Hall.
