Raiders Hire Dennis Allen as Head Coach
The Oakland Raiders hired former Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen as their new head coach on Tuesday.
Allen helped turn around the Broncos defense in his first year as coordinator last season. The Broncos went from allowing a worst in the league 29.4 points and 390.8 yards per game up to 20th in yards (357.8) and 24th in points (24.4) on their way to the AFC West title.
In addition, the Broncos defense almost doubled their sack totals from a year ago increasing their sack total from 23 in 2010 to this season.
Prior to coming to Denver, Allen had served as the New Orleans Saints secondary coach for the previous five seasons. He has also coached for the Atlanta Falcons.
