Prince Fielder Agrees to Deal with Tigers
Prince Fielder, the most notable remaining free-agent, has agreed to a nine-year, $214 million deal with the Detroit Tigers. Fielder will average $23.78 million a year through 2020.
It had been rumored in the media that Fielder was drawing interest from numerous teams including the Chicago Cubs, Miami Marlins, Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals.
Fielder hit 38 home runs and had 120 RBI last season helping the Milwaukee Brewers to their first NL Central crown since 1982.
At age 23, Fielder became the youngest player in MLB history to hit 50 homers in a season.
