Notre Dame Hands No.1 Syracuse First Loss
Notre Dame basketball coach Mike Brey motivated the team by showing them a video of former ND teams over the years that have upset the No.1 team and it worked as the Irish upset previously unbeaten No.1 Syracuse 67-58 on Saturday night.
Now Brey can add another game to the video for future showings. It was the first time Notre Dame has defeated a top-ranked team since 1987 when they beat North Carolina.
Jack Cooley led ND with 17 points and 10 rebounds and James Southerland led Syracuse with 15 points.
Syracuse shot just 34 percent and was 7-for-23 on 3-pointers while Notre Dame hit 50 percent of their field-goal attempts.
