Patriots Crush Broncos
Written by Christopher Corazon, Saturday January 14 2012
Before Saturday, most of the conversation about Saturday's match between the Broncos and Patriots was about Tim Tebow. A large percentage of Americans believed there was Divine Intervention in Denver's win over Pittsburgh. And the Patriots had shown signs of weakness. They gave up large leads in their last two regular season games and had lost three playoff games in a row.
From the beginning, it was clear the Patriots had focus. They scored in the first two minutes. They scored two more times in the final two minutes of the first half. Tom Brady clearly wanted to remove all doubt, completing 5 touchdown passes in the first half. The Patriots led comfortably at the half 35-7.
Before the game, Mayor Hancock in Denver and Mayor Menino in Boston discussed placing bets. At one point, beer was suggested. But the final bet was a Denver steak dinner against a Boston lobster dinner. Added in was that if Denver won, the Paul Revere statue in Boston's North End would wear a Tebow jersey. Hancock agreed to wear Brady's jersey to a public event if New England won. Looks like Revere will remain a Patriot and not be converted to Tebow-mania.
