Kerry Wood Signs Deal to stay with Cubs
Written by Nolan Thomas, Friday January 13 2012
After more then two months of negotiating and another deal on the table from another team, Kerry Wood signed a one year deal worth $3 million to remain with the Chicago Cubs on Friday.
Without the Cubs knowledge, Wood had actually agreed to terms with another team that he declined to reveal and was just waiting for a call to take a physical.
However, after sitting down with Cubs President Theo Epstein before the Cubs Convention began, Wood said it took 15 minutes to get a deal done and he signed on the dotted line.
Wood was reportedly asking for a $4 million deal but took the Cubs offer at the last minute.
