Raiders Owner Mark Davis No Al Davis
Written by Nolan Thomas, Wednesday January 11 2012
Oakland Raiders new owner Mark Davis, the son of the late owner Al Davis, is not his father and apparently the Hall of Fame owner did not think very highly of his son’s ideas.
There were numerous instances when the elder Davis berated his son in front of the staff including recently fired head coach Hue Jackson, who may have been fired in an effort for Mark to clean house of anyone who witnessed the condescending tirades towards him by his legendary father in order to build an image of authority.
In one instance in 2008, Mark was kicked out of a draft meeting for suggesting the team pick a wide receiver with the 4th overall pick in the draft, a pick which eventually turned out to be running back Darren McFadden.
“A [expletive] receiver?” Al Davis yelled. “Get the [expletive] out of here.”
