ODU Hands Towson Record Defeat
Written by Christopher Corazon, Saturday January 07 2012
When Old Dominion defeated Towson 75-38, they improved their CAA record to 3-1 and evened their overall record to 8-8. But the loss meant much more to Towson. Towson set an NCAA record by losing their 35th basketball game in a row.
The CAA is considered a mid-major conference. Last season, they had 3 teams make the tournament, including Old Dominion and VCU. VCU made an improbable run to the final four. But the conference also includes the Towson Tigers, a team that lost their final 19 games last season and now have started 0-16.
The game was not even close, as ODU nearly doubled the score of their visitor. Every player on the home Monarchs scored in the contest. Towson can hope to end this streak at home Wednesday against William & Mary.
